Leave of Absence

  1. Leave Application: Student be required to submit leave application via email at least 7 days (6pm cut-off) prior to the date of the class. Under special circumstances in which the students do not have access to the internet, the “Leave Application Form” retrievable from any HKAFA Branches can be used. Phone-in Leave Application will not be entertained. Unattended classes be arranged to be rescheduled amongst Regular Class cycles [ Refer to Student’s Regulation Item 3 ].
  2. Absence: Students be considered absent for submitting Leave Application less than 7 days prior to the date of the class regardless of reasons, with or without a submission of Leave Application. Students with medical conditions are NOT exempted. Students be required to pay for any flower material fees incurred for the absented class. Absented classes be arranged to be rescheduled amongst Regular Class cycles [ Refer to Student’s Regulation Item 3 ].

Student’s Regulation

    1. Holidays: The Hong Kong Academy of Flower Arrangement (the School) is closed on all Sundays and Public Holidays of the HKSAR.
    2. Adverse Weather Arrangement:

      Students be considered absent for failing to attend the classes not suspended under adverse weather condition. [ Refer to Student’s Regulation Item 3 ]

    3. Make Up Classes: Designs are taught in cycle, once per each Regular Class cycle. Student missing a design due to absence or leave are required to retake the absented design at another Regular Class time slot. Student may opt to wait within the same Regular Class time slot until the design is retaught. Students are unable to be issued certificates or diplomas unless all absented classes are attended to meet the stipulated design count requirement per course.
    4. Prolonged Suspension or Postponement of Classes: Students be responsible to attend classes as scheduled. In case which the student has took a prolonged absence or suspension from the course enrolled, the time slot and the cycle of which the student enrolled into might have ended. Students be required to resume the course at any available time slot offered at the time the resumption is requested. Students bear no right to request private tuition or to request refund. Students are required to finish the course within 2 years from the date the course commences.
    5. Flower Material Fees:
      1. Regular Course: Flower Material Fees are not included in nor being a part of any published Regular Course Tuition Fee. To unify teaching and to ensure class progress, students are only allowed to use the flower materials prepared by the School. Students are required to pay the respective Flower Material Fees every class or as a lump sum before the start of the course.
      2. Short and Intensive Course: Flower Material Fees are included in the published rate for short courses and intensive courses. To unify teaching and to ensure class progress, students are only allowed to use the flower materials prepared by the School.

      Students overdue Flower Material Fees balance for any 2 classes be suspended from further classes. Students be required to clear all outstanding balance before the resumption of any class be rearranged. The School reserves the right to update the Flower Material Fees. Students are required to pay for the Flower Material Fees at its prevailing rate at the time the class take place. Students who opted to pay lump sum for the Flower Material Fees are required to pay the difference between the expired and the updated Flower Material Fees the on date of attending the first class the updated rate being effective.

    6. Miscellaneous Fees:
      1. Regular Course: Miscellaneous Fees and Containers are not included in nor being a part of any published Regular Course Tuition Fee. To unify teaching and to ensure class progress, students are only allowed to use the miscellaneous materials prepared by the School. Students are required to pay the respective Miscellaneous Fees as a lump sum before the start of the course.
      2. Short Course: Miscellaneous Fees are included in the published Short Course Tuition Fee excluding Containers. To unify teaching and to ensure class progress, students are only allowed to use the miscellaneous materials prepared by the School.
      3. Intensive Course: Miscellaneous Fees are included in the published Intensive Course Tuition Fee. To unify teaching and to ensure class progress, students are only allowed to use the miscellaneous materials prepared by the School.

      Students are responsible to prepare the tools and containers at their expense for all courses. The School recommends students to retrieve the list of required tools and containers for every course they enrolled. All containers and tools required are available for sale at the School.

    7. All fees paid are not refundable, not transferrable, and cannot be used to offset the Flower Material Fees for any courses. All courses shall commence within 5 years from the date of payment; any fee will otherwise be forfeited. For courses not commenced, students may opt to transfer the total of tuition fee and miscellaneous fee paid to enroll into another course at its prevailing tuition fee and corresponding miscellaneous fee once. Students be required to top up the difference in price if the total of tuition fee and miscellaneous fee of the desired chosen course exceeds the total of tuition fee and miscellaneous already paid. Excessive paid tuition fee and miscellaneous fee be retained for further course enrollment if the total of tuition fee and miscellaneous fee of the desired chosen course priced less than the total of tuition fee and miscellaneous fee paid.
    8. Materials Deposit:
      For every course enrolled, it is required to be paid before its commencement. The deposit is refundable upon completion of the course, or its permanent termination without full completion of the course. Please refer to the required Material Deposit amount per course as follows.

      1. HK$1,000: For each level per subject for all Certificate & Diploma Courses.
      2. HK$3,000: CPD. (includes EFA, FG & JPBB)

      Any outstanding fee owed to the School would be deducted from the refundable amount. Refund of the deposit paid can be requested upon termination of the course. Students are required to request the refund of deposit within 5 years from the date of enrollment.

    9. Certificate & Diploma can be applied within 30 days from the date the course completion with all the graduation requirement fulfilled. If the application is done after 30 days from date of course completion, an administration fee will be applied at prevailing rate. (*The school cannot guarantee the approval of re-application of the certificates or diplomas, so we recommend students to do the application right after completion of the course.)
      The current rate for each level per course certificate and diploma is HK$1,000. (*the actual fee will be subject to change and the prevailing rate on the date of application will apply.)
      The Material Deposit can be transferred to offset Certificate Fee if all outstanding balance owed to the School is cleared. Students are unable to be issued certificates or diplomas unless all outstanding balance owed to the School is cleared. To be issued a diploma, the certificate of all the constituent courses are required to be obtained in prior.
    10. Voice recording and video recording in any form are strictly prohibited. Any violation would result in immediate dismissal without refund of any tuition fee paid. Photocopying or distribution of any materials given during class is forbidden. Students are forbidden to use the logo of our School and of our partners in any manner. No guests are allowed in class.
    11. The School reserves the full right to dismiss any student at its discretion.
    12. Updates: The school reserves full right to update and to amend this Rules and Regulation. Students agree to be abided by the most up to date version of this Rules and Regulation. Students can retrieve the up to date version from any HKAFA branch.
    13. FM. Florist Management Diploma Course: Students enrolled into the FM. Florist Management Diploma Course agree to the format the class is being conducted. Students be required to listen to the playback of lecture audio recordings in the first part of the class. Students are given time to discuss with the teacher-in-charge of the class in the second part of the class. Recording, or obtaining the audio playback is strictly prohibited. Students be required to purchase a set of handout materials at additional fee.
